You can’t stop the future. You can’t rewind the past. The only way to learn the secret. . . is to press play.

Clay Jensen doesn’t want anything to do with the tapes Hannah Baker made. Hannah is dead. Her secrets should be buried with her.

Then Hannah’s voice tells Clay that his name is on her tapes– and that he is, in some way, responsible for her death.

All through the night, Clay keeps listening. He follows Hannah’s recorded words throughout his small town. . .

. . .and what he discovers changes his life forever.

MY THOUGHTS…

“When you mess with one part of a person’s life, you’re messing with their entire life.”

I seriously don’t know how to express my feelings about this book. From the very start, I already have the idea that this is something serious and eerily creepy. I was right. The moment the first part was delivered, it instantly got me. I had goosebumps just by reading Hannah Baker’s audio narration.

The thing about this book is that it talks more about how depression and being alone can greatly affect one’s life. It’s an eye-opener in a real sense and it simply defines the importance of having someone to talk to– having someone to open up especially when you’re emotionally in pain. And of course, it’s also important to listen to everyone and to be by their side whenever they want someone to talk to. (I’m getting emo here.)

Anyway, I can’t quite relate to Hannah because thank God, I did not experience a serious sadness like what she felt but I found myself feeling desolate for the things that happened to her. Things were badly awful in her life! I wish I could just change everything and make it better for her. As a whole, I did enjoy the book. It also made me learn things a lot. This is my first Jay Asher book and already, I consider myself his fan. 🙂 Well-done!

I agree! People kept on thinking small things specially if they have no one to talk to or they have experiencing it from others or they have low self-esteem. What we think didn’t hurt others might break them.
I can’t also relate to Hannah. And I haven’t read this book…yet. Planning of reading it one of these days.
