One word to describe Helena Hunting’s writing style: extraordinary. It’s my first time to read a book written by this author and I instantly fell in love with her words. I’ve been meaning to get into this book for a while now ever since I saw a picture of it on Instagram. The beautiful cover caught ny attention! And because it also garnered lots of positive remarks, I decided to really invest in it.

Well, it was totally a great decision. Clipped Wings hooked me! This book seems to have it all if you’re looking for a heavy New Adult romance story. The main reason why I loved it is because of the main characters. Hayden and Tenley are one of those interesting characters to read about. They’re both broken and are hiding deep, dark secrets on their own. When these two collided, the connection slowly built-up and simmered in a beautiful way.

“I was starting to think of her as mine. For the first time in my life, I wanted someone for myself. And I would take her any way she came.”

There were lots of smexy scenes here (the male mc is sexy himself, just saying) as well as twists and turns that defined the characters’ strengths and weaknesses. What especially surprised me was the romance which was well-developed. Tenley and Hayden went through a step by step process before they developed feelings for each other.

The plot, on the other hand, was greatly done. I felt a whole lot of emotions while reading this book simply because of its powerful plotline and its overall impact. Also, the way Helena Hunting intricately described those tiny little details of the tattoo that Hayden designed– simply FLAWLESS!

What stopped me from rating it a perfect 5 was the length of the book. It was too heavy (and I’m just a light reader. lol) Needless to say, it’s totally worth the time because it has the elements of a New Adult book that I’m looking for. You want angst, steamy scenes, and a disarmingly moving story all rolled into one, then you get it all here. Overall, it was a satisfying NA read. I am definitely going to read the sequel, Inked Armour.
