What an amazing slow burn romance. If there’s one thing that’s truly apparent in this book, it’s the spot-on perfect writing style of Mariana Zapata. I loved every single one of her lines, her characters’ snappy dialogues, and the humor that she incorporated. She has truly brought out all the very best elements of a sports romance to keep the readers engaged.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me is a hate-to-love story between the characters Vanessa Mazur and the NFO Defensive Player of the Year Aiden Graves. Vanessa has worked for Aiden as a personal assistant for about 2 years already and within those years, she didn’t exactly have a good relationship with him. Aiden is the type of man who doesn’t like to talk or even give a damn about her so after she quit her job, she was surprised when he came into her house, asking her to come back and even propose to her a marriage of convenience.

I’m an avid fan of sports romance so this wasn’t difficult to love. For being such a long book, I enjoyed every bit of it because there wasn’t a single chapter that bored me. Both characters are also easy to love. I admired their raw honesty with each other and how the romance simmered slowly while they carefully explored their bitter past and family issues. At no point their relationship felt forced. I also loved the fact that they both started as strangers and then eventually became best of friends. Stories like this are the type that you couldn’t help but be drawn to.

I couldn’t also resist the fact that Aiden is such a great hero. His character development amazed me. And the way he cared for Vanessa– ahhh I really bought his affection! Also, can I swoon over Zac? He’s such a bae and his friendship with Vanessa is goals! All in all, this book was yet another enjoyable read. It was sweet and full of depth and surprises. Definitely a must read for fans of slow burn and sports-themed romances.
