Synopsis new

A steamy, office-romance novella from New York Times bestselling author, Whitney G…

He definitely wasn’t supposed to get that email…

Subject: My Boss.

Have I already told you that I hate my boss today?

Sexy as hell or not, this pompous, arrogant, ASSHOLE asked me to pick up his dry cleaning the second I walked through the door. Then he told me that I needed to take his Jaguar to a car wash that was ten miles outside of the city, but only after I needed to stand in a never-ending line to buy some type of limited, hundred-dollar watch.

I honestly can’t wait to see the look on his face two months from now when I tell him that I’m quitting his company and that he can kiss my ass. KISS. MY. ASS.

All those former fantasies about him kissing me with his “mouth of perfection” or bending me over my desk and filling me with his cock are long over. OVER.

Your bestie,
Mya

PS–Please tell me your day is going better than mine…

Subject: Re: My Boss.

No, you haven’t already told me that you hate your “boss” today, but seeing as though you’ve sent me this email directly, I know now

Yes, I did ask you to pick up my dry cleaning the second you arrived to work to day. (Where is it?) And I did tell you to take my Jaguar to the car wash and pick up my thousand-dollar watch. (Thank you for taking five hours to do something that could be accomplished in two.)

You don’t have to wait two months from now to see the look on my face when you tell me you’re quitting. I’m standing outside your office at this very moment. ( Open the door. )

No comment on your “fantasies,” although I highly doubt they’re “long over.”

Your boss,
Michael

PS—Yes. My day is definitely going far better than yours…

my thoughts new

Not bad for an office romance novella. This was quite a fun, hilarious read. The entertainment factor was there. However, it didn’t offer anything new. Just the same old hot af womanizer boss who lusted over his attractive employee… etc. etc.

Michael Leighton is Leighton Publishing’s playboy CEO. He is one of tabloids’ most favorite subjects because of his appetite with different women each week. Despite his success in the corporate world, he seemed to encounter a lot of problems when it comes to his previous executive assistants. This led him to post a job hiring for interested applicants, offering a much higher compensation. When Mya London applied for it and was immediately employed, she didn’t expect to develop a love-hate relationship with Michael because he is simply such an arrogant and domineering boss and they always go against each other.

There was overwhelming chemistry in this novella. Both characters were hot and sexy. And there were certainly steamy office scenes that could make everyone blush. This was sure to be a guilty-pleasure read and if you are a type of person who doesn’t mind a story with a stereotypical storyline — just pure entertainment laid on to take away your stress, then go go go read this quick-read story. 🙂

Racial Tensions Flare as Hot as the Passion in RULE BREAKER,
a Modern-day Romeo and Juliet Story

Leilani Kealoha wants to be set free. Of family expectations. Of generations of prejudice.

Chafing at rules made by the proud Hawaiian men in her family, she yearns to discover herself and hungers to explore the world. Her adventuresome heart? Longs for something even greater, deeper.

The last thing she expects is an East Coast haole surfer to hold the key to everything.

Mason Price is done walking his parents’ path. Done with social acceptance—with cold politics.

On a surfing quest to reinvent himself, Mase finds an exotic beauty standing on his towel. But it’s her feisty bargaining that catches him off guard. When he challenges her with a “Truth or Shots” drinking game, she unwittingly reveals more than she’d intended about herself…and him.

The raw truth stuns him: She’s suffered like he has, is lost like he is—keeps secrets like he does.

But will young love and shared situations be enough to conquer racial and cultural divides?

Lines in the sand…were meant to be crossed.

***RULE BREAKER is a standalone, full-length new adult romance told in dual POV. Due to mature themes and adult language, this book is for those 18 and older.***

my thoughts new

“But when an adventure-bound guy, who could have anything, sits in front of a girl with enough fire in her to make every step of the journey ahead a glorious flight? She becomes the only thing he wants.”

Gotta love this book! I wasn’t surprised when this book stole my heart away. It was far from the ordinary summer romance novels that I’ve read. It was a sweet, endearing story with raw characters and nicely written dialogues that just crawled under my skin.

The story started off when Hawaiian local Leilani Kealoha approached the successful East Coast surfer Mason “Mase” Price and proposed to have him sponsored by her brother for windsurfing competitions. Her simple proposal led to Mase proposing back to her for an Assistant/PR Rep job. When she accepted it in exchange for his acceptance of her proposal, she did not expect to have so many realizations– that she wanted a carefree life like Mase’s, away from her comfort zone and family expectations to stay inland and settle in her Hawaiian roots. She wanted to travel with him and explore wonderful possibilities.

The tasty writing was the one that basically sold me. Just like the first time I’ve read a book written by Kat and Stone Bastion, I found the writing strange. But good strange. I loved Mase and Leilani’s conversations and how they got to know each other in a carefree way. The fact that Leilani is a POC who fell in love with a white was also a pleasure to read. It’s a rare experience for me to read a romance book that is packed with racial tensions so I ended up surprised here.

Also… I loved the setting. Hawaii. Wow. The vivid descriptions of the place amazed me. I felt like I was there the entire time I was reading the book.

“I’d definitely stayed far from the safe path. Leilani Kealoha? Made wandering into an untamed jungle worth every dangerous step.”

The story moved slowly at times but I honestly grew to care for the characters over that time and longed for the ending to find out if they’re given a chance to have their happily ever after. This book was way better than I expected. I would never hesitate to recommend it for fans of summer romance stories.

“And at the moment I’d found me? So had the most amazing girl.”

Synopsis new

He knows how to score, on and off the ice

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she’s going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.

It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.

my thoughts new

Buddyread with my amazing sis Bea (click her name to read her beautiful review) 🙂

I knew this book will definitely bring me tons of fun times, but heck I didn’t expect this installment to be this crazily good! And HOT. Who wouldn’t get all warmed-up when it’s The Life of Dean we’re talking here? DEAN SEBASTIAN KENDRICK HEYWARD-DI LAURENTIS.

description

We’ve met Dean in the previous books of the Off-Campus series. One of the hockey hotties of Briar, this guy is the manwhore of all manwhores in the team. And then there’s Allie Hayes, Hannah’s (Garrett’s girlfriend) best friend who also appeared in the previous books, who just broke-up with her long-term boyfriend Sean. Things started off when Allie went to the hockey players’ apartment to spend the night in order to avoid being confronted by Sean. That’s the time when she and Dean got drunk together and well, ended up screwing each other.

This book is practically a friends-with-benefits kind of book, but I loved how the romance came out very developed here– how Dean and Allie both started off as f*ck buddies which turned into something in the long run. And of course, their character development. So amazed how Dean transformed into one responsible and matured guy and how he stayed loyal to only one girl. *sigh

As usual, Elle Kennedy once again made this entire book worth the read because of the humor that’s present in every chapter. There were LOTS of laughable moments here. Little Dean, WINSTON, the martial arts done by Allie and Summer, the Hunger Games and Twilight references, Logan and G’s teasings, Tuck’s shenanigans, and all!. I had to take a break just to have a good, healthy laugh!!! And my, those hot scenes– NUFF SAID.

Seriously, this installment is everything. Dean is one of the NA men every girl would really swoon over. I enjoyed everything here because it’s so damn entertaining and romantic to the extreme! I need the fourth book now!

He wants her back? He’ll have towork for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

my thoughts new

John Logan feels!

description

I’ve buddyread this book with my pretty sis Bea who by the way, just celebrated her birthday yesterday. Belated happy birthday, sis! 🙂

The Mistake is the second book of the Off-Campus series. This time around, the story focuses on John Logan, star defenseman of Briar’s hockey team, and Grace Ivers, a freshman girl who’s been infatuated with him ever since she attended college at Briar. After Logan mistakenly went to the wrong room which was Grace’s, the sexual tension slowly built up between them. Being a popular and desirable hottie, Logan didn’t plan to seriously fall for Grace since he’s got tons of personal issues. Grace on the other hand, was extremely attracted to him so when Logan practically dumped her, she promised to never again engage herself with him. Too late because Logan finally realized his ‘mistake’ and is now chasing after her.

Although I like the first book much better, this book is still a very fun and enjoyable read. Since The Deal, I already found Logan’s character interesting so I decided to really read it ASAP because I feel like I’ll be missing a lot if I won’t. And wow, I really loved it! The story was typical college romance but it didn’t feel like a cliché to me. It’s because the story is just written so good! The main characters are also the cutest thing ever! Logan and Grace made me fall in love with their romantic interactions and steamy encounters. The chemistry was undeniable and the relationship development amazed me. There was also no insta-love and no cheating involved, and the spark was already visible the moment they collided.

Not only did this book offer swoon-worthy moments and sexy times, but there was also family drama that made me tear up at some point. Plus, there were lots of funny moments that made me cracked up so many times I lost count! (Highlight of the year: The red velvet couch. Lol) I especially love the “wooing” moments here. Isn’t it so great when a guy extends so much effort just to ask for the girl’s forgiveness and to prove that he’s worth a second chance? Talk about the feels!

Elle Kennedy quickly becomes one of my favorite New Adult authors. It’s hard not to fangirl with her because her writing style is especially the best! There’s emotional depth in her stories and the humor totally makes them an overall entertaining read. Plus, she really knows how to draw brilliant characters. What more can a reader ask?

my thoughts new

Smoke & Fire by Michele Wesley

Fast and deadly, she moved like a mixture of smoke and wind.

I thought this book was pretty good and a promising introduction to a new series.

Agent Sori Knight a.k.a Smoke is hired by the government to work as a spy. When she was assigned to a mission, she incidentally met her biological brothers Drake and Damon– brothers she didn’t even know existed, and vice versa. Like her, the guys are also closely associated with spies and top agents. When Sori and her brothers collided, they eventually worked together as a team alongside the nerdy but attractive Agent Mycale Phillips. As she and Mycale especially teamed-up for a certain mission, they eventually developed feelings for each other which made everything quite tough.

This book is fast-paced and action-packed, with a deadly and badass heroine that really makes the book surprisingly good. Not only that. The book is also packed with non-stop humor. Sori’s character is fun to read. Her character was like nothing I have ever read before.

However, I have some issues with the book such as the whole narration. I love how the author made the story a real quick read, but I wish everything hadn’t been quite so fast, because it left me clueless on some parts, like how on earth Sori instantly became comfortable with the new people she’s working together with. Even though Damon and Drake are her siblings, still, she knew they’re complete strangers, and yet she was able to easily work well with them. With a character like her, I expected her to be somewhat a bit mistrustful especially with strangers. Also, I had a bit of a hard time connecting with the side characters. Everyone seemed to share the same kind of characterization (even the President)… like for example, the good-natured treatment with each other. I wish I was able to find characters here who are also kind of stoic and poker-faced because they’re secret agents who deal with confidential information, right?

The book, however, have positive traits. As I’ve mentioned, Sori is a fiery and kick-ass heroine. I love kick-ass leads! She does not depend on other people and she focuses on her capabilities in order to succeed in her missions.

The action scenes also blew me away! And of course, the romance which gave spice to the whole book. Sori and Mycale are a strong and amazing pair it would be good if they have cameo appearances on the next books! As a whole, it’s still an enjoyable read. It’s the action scenes that hooked me. I recommend this book if you are in for a fun and dynamic spy novel!
