(Buddyreading this book with my sissy Avy)

Reading this book was reminiscing everything in Sweet series and bringing back the feels! I am not really fond of reading a book that rehashes the entire series using the voice of the male mc but this one was an exception because, *sigh It’s KAIDAN ROWE’S POV and why not?

I knew Kaidan was sexy in Sweet Evil, Sweet Peril, and Sweet Reckoning but I think he’s way sexier here. Lots of naughty things were running inside his head and I can’t help but blush. LOL. I think I even loved him better here because I was able to really see through his thoughts and his emotions and the way he regarded Anna. Right in the feels!

“Anna has ruined me with a craving for something far more substantial. She possesses the only thing that can fill the deep void within me, and nothing else comes close.”

Anna and Kaidan have always been one of my favorite OTP’s that’s why it was kind of difficult for me to read this book without missing this couple so bad! But I’m really glad because I already forgot lots of scenes in the series and I’m happy to rewind all of those, especially those scenes I consider my favorites. All in all, it was a worthy somewhat-reread of the entire series. Kaidan Rowe is truly worth it all!

“I can’t simply have a tiny slice of Anna. I’m no masochist. It has to be all or nothing.”

“With you, I want it all. If I get a taste of what it could be, I won’t ever want to let it go. I fell in love with you when I was sixteen, and that’s never changed. But trusting you with my heart again is different. With you, I need to know it’s forever.”

Bethy Lowry has always been one of those side-characters in the previous books of Rosemary Beach series that instantly got me. She was so strong and very likeable. What happened to her in Simple Perfection ruined me, though. That’s why when I knew that she was getting a story, I instantly felt hopeful for her happy ending.

This book gave that to me. I love Bethy and Tripp’s happy ending. Their history was vague in the previous books but it became clear here. I loved how these characters reunited in Rosemary Beach and eventually confronted each other about what happened in the past. Their story was bittersweet and heartbreaking, but I’m glad Abbi Glines was able to pull this one off.

I particularly loved Woods and Della’s beach wedding scene here and how everyone was present to celebrate their happiness. (view spoiler) As a whole, it was an emotional yet very romantic and unforgettable book. And as usual, I loved the setting. I think Rosemary Beach will forever be my fictional comfort zone. 🙂

Synopsis new

From the author of the New York Times, USA Today & Wall Street Journal bestselling novel, THE EDGE OF NEVER, comes a story of passion and survival…

Sarai was only fourteen when her mother uprooted her to live in Mexico with a notorious drug lord. Over time she forgot what it was like to live a normal life, but she never let go of her hope to escape the compound where she has been held for the past nine years.

Victor is a cold-blooded assassin who, like Sarai, has known only death and violence since he was a young boy. When Victor arrives at the compound to collect details and payment for a hit, Sarai sees him as her only opportunity for escape. But things don’t go as planned and instead of finding transport back to Tucson, she finds herself free from one dangerous man and caught in the clutches of another.

While on the run, Victor strays from his primal nature as he succumbs to his conscience and resolves to help Sarai. As they grow closer, he finds himself willing to risk everything to keep her alive; even his relationship with his devoted brother and liaison, Niklas, who now like everyone else wants Sarai dead.

As Victor and Sarai slowly build a trust, the differences between them seem to lessen, and an unlikely attraction intensifies. But Victor’s brutal skills and experience may not be enough in the end to save her, as the power she unknowingly holds over him may ultimately be what gets her killed.

my thoughts new

I would like to thank my dear friend sis Bea for introducing this book to me. (Click her name to read her awesome review!) This book was a roller coaster experience for me!

I didn’t know that J.A. Redmerski could write something as strong and powerful as this book! Killing Sarai was overloaded with action and lots and lots of it!

In this book, we meet Sarai who grew up in a violent environment ever since her mom gave her to a Mexican drug lord named Javier when she was 14. For years, she became a slave to Javier and was trying to find ways to get out of that cruel world. When suddenly she met Victor who had a transaction with Javier, she decided to grab the opportunity to escape and ask for his help.

I’ve read the author’s previous works and although they’re also NA, they’re very different to this. Killing Sarai is dark and twisted with 95% violence on it. What I loved about this book was how it basically gripped me and had my attention all throughout. All the chapters and the scenes were terrifying and they gave me adrenaline rush. There were no dull moments because in every chapter, there seemed to be an upcoming surprise which was of course, delivered smoothly.

What even amazed me were the characters. Holy Moly. Victor is such a great male lead and everyone should meet this man! He’s such a perfect character for a dark novel. Strong, very dependable, and one who doesn’t fear anything… not even killing. Whenever he pulls such quick action stunts, I always find myself gasping and questioning, “How the heck did he do that?”

I also loved Sarai. I loved her character development when she became stronger each day: from being a scared and paranoid woman. She turned out to be a badass who no longer fears killing and being killed! There were scenes involving Sarai that made me clap my hands because damn, not all heroines can pull off those things!

I also didn’t expect myself to swoon when it comes to the romantic aspect of this book. The sexual tension between Victor and Sarai offered so much feels! It was HOT! I can’t even.

The ending was totally good and although it was sort of a cliffy, still it gave me goosebumps because of how promising it appealed to me. It made me want to instantly grab the second book which I’ll definitely be reading soon!

If you are comfortable with this kind of book, and if you are a fan of this author, I’m very certain you will enjoy it as much as I did. It was, as a whole, a very well-written and adrenaline-pulling dark contemporary romance book!

“In the end, you can only trust yourself.”

my thoughts new

THE INDIGO SPELL BY RICHELLE MEAD

I’ve read this gem together with sis Bea. You can read her beautiful review here. 🙂

The Indigo Spell has put a spell on me! Once again, Richelle Mead captivated me with yet another amazing Bloodlines sequel.

This book was overloaded with so many happenings that are very significant and important. In this sequel, Sydney Sagedelved into more dangerous situations– discovering her magical abilities and even finding out the conspiracies hidden by The Alchemists. Adrian was there for her all the time, supporting her and looking after her in every perilous occurrences.

Sydney’s character became incredible here, though I must say I have mixed feelings with her. She was at times, very stubborn and too reluctant to give in to her heart’s desire which is to return Adrian’s feelings. Nevertheless, I admire her bravery and her usual critical-thinking that can always make the situations bearable and manageable. Adrian’s character was also great. He became more passionate and swoony and a total bae!

The romance in this book was beyond amazing. I mean, who couldn’t resist the romantic scenes between Sydney and Adrian? Those scenes absolutely outdid the ones in the previous books. I couldn’t stop myself shipping them because it’s hard not to. They’re too perfect! *sigh And their chemistry!

I guess what I truly love about this sequel, apart from the great romantic development, was the action scenes. Totally amazeballs! Those scenes, especially the one where they were running away from the evil witch, were EPIC! Simply adrenaline-pulling that I found myself truly thrilled.

At some point, I found some dragging parts but the remaining chapters saved everything. I was about to rate it 4 stars but Chapters 24 and 25 were a game changer and it’s hard to resist it when you’re fangirling over everything– especially when it has something to do with SYDRIAN.

Overall, a great sequel! Hands down! The series gets better and more thrilling and I can’t wait to find out what will happen in The Fiery Heart.
