Synopsis new

The sizzling second installment of the White House series, by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.

We fell in love during the campaign.
The stakes were high.
Reputations could have been ruined.
Scandal hovered over us like a cloud.
Now the man I love is the President of the United States of America.
And its not my vote he is after.
He wants it all.
My heart. My body. My soul.
He wants me by his side.
In the White House.
Normalcy will be gone from my life, privacy forgotten.
I am only twenty three. I just wanted to play a part in history. But it seems like history wasn’t done with me. The part where I lost my heart to Matthew Hamilton? It was only the beginning…

my thoughts new

“I want you. I want you indefinitely– and eventually, baby, you’re going to need to own up to the fact that the man you’re in love with is the president, and you helped put me here.”

(I buddyread this book with my lovely sis Bea. Click her name to read her awesome review!)

Katy Evans manages each time to suck me into the story she writes. I loved Mr. President and now after finishing this conclusion of Matthew and Charlotte’s story, I am so happy because of their satisfying ending.

In this book, the hot and super swoon-worthy Matthew “Matt” Hamilton is already the President-elect of the United States. Charlotte flew to Europe to stay away from him and try to move on after he won the presidency. But when she returned to witness his first day as a ruler in the States, she wasn’t able to deny the fact that her feelings toward him still remain. And when their paths crossed once again, she did not expect him to pull such a shocking proposal to her– to become his acting First Lady of the United States.

I loved most parts in this book– especially the scenes where Matt was trying to win Charlotte back and woo her. Despite his busy schedule, he was still able to make time for her, doing his best to make her feel that she’s the most beautiful, most worthy First Lady in his heart.

The thing that has awed me most was the loyalty they had for each other. I loved how strong they were together and how tough they were despite some political issues that surround them. Over the course of Matt’s presidency, I was afraid that he’s going to be destructed while being in love with Charlotte but omg, I was so wrong. He is the man! The best President ever.

Maybe I was looking for a little bit more angst and depth that’s why I rated it 4 out 5 but otherwise, I loved how the story turned out in the end. There was a resolution regarding the crime of Matt’s father. The final chapters also brought me a whirlwind of emotions as well as the ending which just made me grin from ear to ear. Matt and Charlotte’s love story, as a whole, was more than beautiful. They said their lives aren’t fairytale. Um, I don’t think so. There could never be any more perfect than their love for each other.

“I shed more than my clothes when I’m with her. I shed every preconceived notion of who I should be. My last name, the presidency, everything is gone– only I remain. A man, flesh and blood, not perfect, but trying his damn best to be, and a man who wants her. Bad.”

Review: Womanizer by Katy Evans

Womanizer (Manwhore, #4)

(Manwhore #4)
Author: Katy Evans
Publisher: Katy Evans
Published: December 5, 2016
Genre: Romance, New Adult, Contemporary

Synopsis new

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans comes a brand new contemporary romance. WOMANIZER is a full standalone, and no other books in the series need to be read.

You’ve seen the headlines: Womanizing billionaire player! Watch out! Stay away!

We were just two strangers. Facing a forbidden attraction, a chemical connection. Neither of us expected or wanted it to amount to more.
But I had never been drawn to a guy the way I was drawn to this one: my brother’s best friend, and CEO of the company where I interned.
Even knowing I should stay away, I proved to be too human, after all.
The chemistry was amazing.
The laughs were incredible.
I opened up to him in more ways than I’d opened up to anyone before.
But sex was as far as I’d go.
Just sex because he was too irresistible.
Just sex because I wouldn’t be falling for him.
Just sex because I’d leave in three months, and I’d like for my brother not to kill me, and for nobody to find out he was my wicked little secret.
He wasn’t the One.
He was just a womanizer.
But for a time, he would be mine.

my thoughts new

“Life sometimes doesn’t run in the cycles it’s expected to. We are all here for a blink. Life changes in a blink. We fall in love, sometimes, in a blink.”

Forever in love with Katy Evans’ books!

Callan and Olivia. Gaaah!!! I couldn’t even begin to describe the sexual tension and overflowing steamy scenes between these two. I was so rooting for them from start to finish.

Olivia “Livvy” Roth was introduced in the previous Manwhore book Ladies Man and we’ve known her as Tahoe’s little sister. When Tahoe endorsed her to his best friend’s huge company to work as an intern, Olivia expected to meet a ruthless business mogul in the name of Callan Carmichael. While working there, she had an encounter with a literally hot smoker guy whom she thought as an ordinary employee (a mailman) and whom she shared smoking sessions every day and even had a one night stand with. Little did she know that the smoker guy was in fact, the very owner of the company– Callan.

The book was basically steeped in steamy scenes after steamy scenes. Classic Katy Evans. Aaand I loved every bit of it. Callan and Olivia’s chemistry was off the charts. They’re both hot, success-driven, and they both understand each other’s wants. To simply put, they’re made for each other.

I loved that their story was not heavy on the angst and how the scenes were created to make the reader smile and swoon. It basically kept me on my toes. If you are looking for an office romance with over-the-top sensual scenes with less dramas, I believe you will love this book. You don’t have to read the previous books in this series (although I recommend you to read them too because they are equally amazing!) because it is a standalone. All in all, Womanizer was another enjoyable book to devour. I’m excited about Wynn’s story!

Synopsis new

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans comes a sizzling new contemporary romance.

He’s won the hearts of millions. But is he willing to lose his?

I met the president’s son when we were both young. Matthew Hamilton was handsome, polished, and intelligent. I’d never met a guy like him.

Three terms later, an invitation to join Matthew Hamilton’s campaign is the most exhilarating opportunity I’ve ever experienced. I’m determined to make a difference; he is determined to win.

Focused on his goal, Matt is steadfast, ruthless, and disarming. All eyes are on him and his popularity is surging. But soon, the next possible president of the United States is possessing me in more ways than one—and despite the risks, I’m helpless to resist.

We’re stealing touches, stealing moments, and stealing away at night. But our chemical connection is quickly becoming dangerously combustive, putting not only my heart, but Matt’s chance at the presidency on the line.

Winning will take everything. Walking away will be the hardest thing of all.

my thoughts new

(I’ve read this book together with my lovely sis Bea. Click her name to read her wonderful review.)

You can always count on Katy Evans delivering such a novel complete with a perfect mix of angst and steam. I’ve been a fan of her works since her Manwhore series because of her way of writing that is simply addicting and her Alpha male men that are hot and irresistible.

Apparently Mr. President has rendered me utterly amazed. It was an all-consuming novel, so different compared to her previous works. As what the blurb says, this book tells a story about two characters living in a political world, Matthew “Matt” Hamilton and Chralotte Wells. Matt is the son of an ex US President while Charlotte is the daughter of an ex Senator. They first met when Charlotte was 11 years old and Matt and her father went to her family’s house for a visit. She has been crushing on Matt ever since that day and she even promised to support him if he ever runs for presidency in the future. Now after 11 years, they met again and this time, Matt is already a candidate for President and Charlotte is working for his campaign.

“You will not be the reason for me losing. If anything, you’ll be the reason for me winning.”

What made this book stand out for me was the off-the-charts chemistry between Charlotte and Matt. They simply hit it off! I loved how their relationship was built up from a simple crush to a deep attraction which later on bloomed into sexual tension and frustration and yes– white-hot love.

“She grounds me. She obsesses me. She fuels me. This woman not only makes me want to be a great man, she makes me want to be the best goddamn president that ever lived.”

Both characters are also likeable. Matt is such a sweet and passionate person. The way he looks at Charlotte like he’s the last woman on earth even when there are tons of people around. Oh MY GOD. And don’t even get me started on his irresistible charm that wins millions of people. On the other hand, I adore Charlotte’s character. She’s a natural. She has a soft heart for the place where she grew up and she’s a down to earth person despite the fact that she belongs to a well-endowed family.

What’s even great about Charlotte’s character is the way she loves Matt in a selfless way. She doesn’t set expectations right when they started their secret love affair. She knows what’s bound to happen and that their relationship is about to fall when America chooses Matt as the next president. She’s not whiny and needy and these qualities made me love her.

“I don’t care about more. I don’t care that there is no future for us if he wins. I won’t deny us both this moment. He said he needs me. And I need him.”

As for the ending, well, this was me after that ending…

…a hot mess. A steaming pile of mess.

It’s not yet a happily-ever-after for Charlotte and Matt but the ending promised all kinds of feels and goodness in the upcoming sequel. And I so need the next installment so bad it hurts!

A real page-turner, this book is no doubt one of the best romance novels I’ve read this year and possibly one of the most beautiful political romance books ever written. The story was brought out in a passionate and intoxicating way. The angst was overwhelming and the love the characters both share for each other made this book a keeper. Yet another book added to my favorites shelf!

“Love has no place in the White House.”

Synopsis new

Irreverent, cocky, playful and naughty.
He’s not the guy you date.
He’s the one night stand.
The one your mother warned you about.
The one your body craves.

You’d think the man who called me succulent would want to strip me down and spread me out on his bed—like he’s done with countless others.
But he passed on my offer….
Just like I’d once passed on his.
He’s wary, like I am.
He’s broken, like I am.
And everyone knows two broken parts can’t ever make a whole.
Tahoe and I are strictly friends.
So I distract myself with other men.
He doesn’t think my new man is good enough. This blond blue-eyed beast doesn’t think any man is—himself included.
But the more time we spend together, the more confused I feel.
I’m trying to open myself to love.
Yet I’m quickly realizing that the only man I want is Tahoe Roth.
The one man who will surely break my heart.

my thoughts new

“You’re like an insistent little trickle of water, soaking into every inch of my life.”

(I buddyread this book with my lovely sis Bea. Click her name to read her awesome review!)

I loved this book so much and right now I couldn’t even begin to form coherent thoughts. TAHOE ROTH. This guy. This sexy ladies’ man just got me with his “You’ve checked me so hard” line!

We’ve met Tahoe Roth and Gina Wylde in the first books of Manwhore series. Since Manwhore, Tahoe already hooked me because he was described as a sexy and cool rich playboy with a cocky grin and let me tell you, those qualities are my weakness, no matter how cliché they seem to be. I didn’t quite like Gina in the previous books, though, but in this book, this girl totally got me. Her character improved so well!

“But what is true for Tahoe Roth? He is the embodiment of sex. He also has a gentleman ingrained in his bones due to his southern upbringing. You can tell a lot about person by how they treat others, and he is playful but honest, and always himself.”

These two have this typical friends-to-lovers story that I found really sweet. To be honest, I didn’t quite like the prolonged sexual tension between them as the story progressed simply because of the way they continued to resist each other and hang the readers in the air. All throughout the 3/4 part of the book, I kept saying “Oh, c’mon, get it together already!”. My patience was really tested here lol and you can’t blame me because the chemistry of these characters are so evident you can’t help but root for them! But I was completely glad that the story picked up in the later chapters and finally made everything up! It was totally worth it, after all.

“I want to take off your lipstick so all you have is my mouth on you.”

The romance in this book was undeniably hot, passionate, and somewhat bittersweet. Just when I thought that everything was light, I realized that there were some parts that were a bit heavy and dramatic, too, like Tahoe’s painful past which was revealed in an unexpected way. I think that part was the main reason why I understood this casanova better.

“Love has no conscience. It doesn’t know right or wrong. It’s a feeling you can’t shake that penetrates your soul, and it cannot be broken.”

All in all, I did enjoy and swoon over this book. I guess the list of songs in the playlist which was mentioned also became an instrument for me to even love this book. Those songs were perfect! *sigh I NEED MORE BOOKS LIKE THIS!

My Favorite New Adult Contemporary Books Thus Far

book ramblings new new

I’m a sucker for contemporary books, especially New Adult. This genre is so irresisible because it’s simply a guilty-pleasure one. I have read several NA books and there were a lot that pulled at my heartstrings. Some, however, were not for me. Reading a New Adult book is like taking a risk because in my case, usually these books are either a hit or a miss. Luckily though, I have found some books that I happily shelved as favorites, and here they are:

Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines

Fallen Too Far (Too Far, #1)

I’ve read this last year, but until now, I still can remember the “I had fallen too far. I was in love with Rush Finlay” quote that gave me all the feels! This book is my kinda book. Rich, hot guy falling for simple, uptown girl. And oh my goodness, I love the setting. Love the Rosemary Beach! What also made this book a winner for me was that it’s basically not just about romance. It also has family drama that really makes you cry.

The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski

The Edge of Never (The Edge of Never, #1)

The main reason why I love this book is the sizzling hot chemistry between Camryn and Andrew. The travel + romance combo was also something that makes the whole story swoony and a lot more interesting. And well, who doesn’t want a stranger-to-friendship-turned-into-relationship kind of story? And… who doesn’t want a hot damn guy who loves to sing and play guitar? 😀

Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven

Bad Romeo (Starcrossed, #1)

Just hearing the title makes me swoon all over again. Because… ETHAN HOLT. Apart from the fact that Ethan Holt is definitely the man of all the men in NA, Bad Romeo is a book that has all the elements to make every reader fall in love. It’s about two stage actors reunited once again, a second chance kind of romance. I fell completely in love with this book and its sequel Broken Juliet and for me, it’s a rare gem.

Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy Cherry

Loving Mr. Daniels

This book was so unexpected. This was recommended to me by a friend and I actually didn’t have any expectations prior to reading this. Well, color me surprise! This was definitely a HIT. I love the romance, the angst, the character-driven story, the setting… everything! I did have a serious book hangover after reading this because of how it basically made me cry in a very good way. I have read books that are all about forbidden love and this is one of the best so far.

The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen

The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden (The Coincidence, #1)

I always fancy stories that are with broken characters and this fortunately made me appreciate these kinds of books even more. I love the main characters Callie and Kayden. They’re one of the couples that basically made me feel awed and teary-eyed. So much feels! What I especially love about this book was the instant connection I felt the moment I started reading it. Just simply a great, emotional read!

Addicted to You by Krista and Becca Ritchie

Addicted to You (Addicted, #1)

This book is actually my recent favorite. I’m currently reading its sequal Addicted for Now. It’s so good! The moment I started reading it I knew it’s going to be my new favorite. Loren Hale and Lily Calloway are seriously RELATIONSHIP GOALS! *sigh. The thing about this book is that it’s not just your ordinary NA romance book. The premise is unique. Ever met characters that both share the same insanity? Yes, they’re both addicted. One is addicted to booze and one is addicted to sex. What happens when they collide? If you haven’t read it, find out. 🙂

Confess by Collen Hoover

I confess that this book is one of the best NA books in the history of books. I consider myself a fan of CoHo and all of her works that I’ve read so far are really excellently done. For me, Confess tops it all. I love the characters, especially OWEN “OMG” MASON GENTRY. The premise of this book is so intense but what made me feel drawn to it was the humor that CoHo did not fail to bring. I did cry at the last chapters of this book– especially when I’ve read this quote: “That could be fate, you know.”

When it Rains by Lisa De Jong

When It Rains (Rains, #1)

When it rains, it pours. That explains my emotions while reading this book. All throughout the book, I experienced an emotional roller coaster, because the author’s writing style is absolutely good– so good that every word Lisa De Jong puts into the story can pierce through your heart. I had a hard time moving on from a hangover few days after reading this. It’s a story that is so hard to forget.

Manwhore by Katy Evans

Manwhore (Manwhore, #1)

This book is a typical guilty-pleasure read. Rich men with oozing sex appeal? Give it to me! I love Manwhore. It’s not a perfect, emotionally-driven book but the scenes and the sexual tension that the main characters shared in this book are the exact reasons why you just want to keep reading it. It has Fifty Shades of Grey feels (minus the BDSM), but who cares? I love Fifty Shades of Grey!

So you’ve met my favorite NA books so far. What are your favorite NA books? Anything you can recommend? Feel free to comment below. 🙂

Katy Evans returns with a sexy novella, the final installment of the unforgettable love story that began in MANWHORE.
What lies ahead for Chicago’s most envied couple, Malcolm Saint and Rachel Livingston?

Sparks flew between them in MANWHORE.

Separated by deception, the intensity and heat of their attraction turned up in MANWHORE +1.

Will Chicago’s wealthiest and most notorious player finally settle down, or will one woman never be enough?

Find out in MS. MANWHORE, the ultimate conclusion to their electric, breathtaking story.

my thoughts

Such a happiness overload novella!

And here’s me before, while, and after reading Ms. Manwhore.

Ms. Manwhore exactly starts where Manwhore +1 leaves us. In this novella, we get to see Malcolm and Rachel again– and this time, they’re finally engaged and are now preparing for their wedding. I could say it’s definitely one of the best endings of a great love story!

Malcolm and Rachel became even sweeter in this novella. Their relationship just makes you want to sigh dreamily. I especially love the wedding preparations and the pleasure of just living under Malcolm’s extravagant lifestyle. I also enjoy their conversations and how they involved their friends and loved ones in this special moment of their lives. Best of all, I love the wedding– the setting and the overall romance.

Everything was just so perfect! I couldn’t ask for a better ending for this cute, hilarious, and passionate couple. 🙂 #TEAMMALCOM #DIBSONSAINT

Review: Manwhore +1 by Katy Evans

Manwhore +1 by Katy Evans

Manwhore +1

Author: Katy Evans

Publication: July 7, 2015
Genre: Romance, Contemporary, New Adult, Erotica
My Rating:

Billionaire playboy? Check.
Ruthless businessman? Check.
Absolutely sinful? Check.

Malcolm Saint was an assignment. A story. A beautiful, difficult man I was supposed to uncover for a racy exposé.

I intended to reveal him, his secrets, his lifestyle—not let him reveal me. But my head was overtaken by my heart and suddenly nothing could stop me from falling. I fell for him, and I fell hard.

Malcolm Saint is absolute Sin, and I’ve become a hopeless Sinner.

Now that the assignment is over, Saint wants something from me–something unexpected–and I want this wicked playboy’s heart. But how can I prove to the man who trusts no one that I’m worthy of becoming his plus one?

my thoughts

They can call me whatever they’d like, it doesn’t change anything. I’m his plus one… and he’s my everything.

I have to admit, I thought I was never going to love the second book of this series the way I adored the first, but the ending ofManwhore +1 totally changed my overall feelings toward this book. It was so beautiful that it left a smile on my face.

Manwhore +1 is the continuation of Manwhore. In this book, Malcolm and Rachel’s story continues after the insane cliffhanger the first book left us.

The first half of this book did not have much else going on, except for the fact that Rachel tried to win him back by proving to him that she regretted what she did. What happened in most parts were plenty of sex and making-outs. But I have to give credits to Katy Evans for pulling everything off by making the second half of the book more meaningful and with emotional depth. I was satisfied.

I admire Rachel’s character here, especially when she proved that she’s not dependent on Malcom and his money and she chose to pursue her career by doing it on her own. What just made me roll my eyes was her inconsistency sometimes. Sometimes she was so obsessed with Malcom but there were also times when she was holding back even though Saint was so into her. In the end though, she turned out a better character and that’s what’s important, right?

My favorite of this book is of course, Malcom Saint. Well, who doesn’t want a perfect man who definitely stands out among other characters? If not for him, this book and this series would have been so dull.

I enjoyed this book so much. It has a perfect ending. I’m still on high right now! It’s just so hard to move on when you’re reading a great book. *sigh*
