Synopsis new

From the New York Times bestselling authors of Stuck-Up Suit and Cocky Bastard, comes a sexy new standalone novel.

Money or love? Which would you choose?

You probably just answered the question in your head thinking it’s an easy decision.

For me, it’s not. Did I mention it’s a lot of money? A hell of a lot.

I needed to go far away to think it through.

As I embarked on an impulsive trip, I hit a detour when I met sexy Carter in the airport lounge. We struck up a heated conversation.

Then, he left.

I thought I’d never see him again.

But fate had other plans.

Surprise! He was the pilot of my flight.

The bigger surprise was the adventure that followed after the plane landed.

Carter was dangerous and always on the move.

Even though our connection was magnetic, I knew it was only temporary.

He would give me tickets, and I would follow him around the world to exotic places.

A bevy of flight attendant exes and rumors about Carter’s reputation were never far behind.

I didn’t know what to believe.

But I was addicted. Nothing else mattered anymore. And I was going to get hurt. Because a part of me wanted to be the one to finally ground the playboy pilot.

At the very least, he was taking me on a thrilling ride.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

my thoughts new

“Come fly with me, beautiful.”

And this, my friend, is the reason why I love New Adult. I couldn’t believe I didn’t read this book sooner. It was one of the best books written by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland.

I actually think a book hangover will come after this.

Playboy Pilot begins when Kendall Sparks ran away from her home for a while to do some soul searching. She didn’t know where she was going but she planned to go to other countries to look for some answers. At the airport, she met a hot, gorgeous stranger named Carter Clynes whom she immediately had a connection with after a few minutes of chatting. When Carter knew that she has no idea where she will be heading, he invited her to go with him to Brazil, but she didn’t say yes because she was still confused. It was when Carter left that she decided that she might actually want to go to Brazil, so she ended up buying a ticket to Rio de Janeiro. At the plane, she was shocked to find out that the pilot who’s flying the one that she’s riding is none other than Carter! When they landed in Rio de Janeiro, they saw each other again and the rest is up to you guys to read and find out. lol

This book took me by surprise. It has pretty much all the elements that I want in a New Adult book. It definitely has the angst, amazing romance, good plot, emotional depth, and a surprising twist. The writing was also stunning which didn’t surprise me at all since both authors are really good at this.

“Sometimes the things we hold onto the tightest are the things we most need to set free.”

I also loved the character development of Carter and Kendall. Both are strong, passionate, and willing to redeem themselves. Carter is also the type of male lead that for me, is perfect despite being a womanizer in the past. The way he treated Kendall was so sweet. I actually thought he would be a jerk here but I was amazed to find out that he’s a man with such good traits. Honestly, how can you resist a guy who has a heart for elderly people? Ughhhh.

“We’re both fucked up. Maybe that’s what it is. Maybe we see a little of ourselves in each other. We’re two wrongs that somehow make a right. Inseparable we’re miserable, but together… we somehow work.”

One of the best things that I also loved about this book was the roadtrip romance concept which was really done perfectly. I was in awe of the beautiful places that the characters explored and experienced.

Can I just say that this book is perfect? Carter and Kendall’s story had me swimming in my emotions. It’s difficult to move on since the story is still lingering on my mind right now. SEND HELP! I can’t recommend this book enough. Just. The best!

“Yeah, baby, I totally did.”

my thoughts new

Many people will not read this book because of the cover lol. But I’m telling you guys, this book is so worth it! I enjoyed Anything but Minor and not just because it’s a pretty guilty-pleasure book, but because it’s just one of those stories that have the ability to steal my heart away.

The story was told from each of the main characters’ POV, pilot instructor Alice Boyd and Swampgator baseball pitcher Rafe Hembrey. Alice left her hometown and went to Charleston to “stay away” from her strict mom and basically live her life to the fullest. There, she met the sexy playboy baseball star Rafe who made it a point right after their first meeting that he was attracted to her and he wanted them to hook-up. Alice resisted him at first, but because Rafe was just too difficult to avoid, and because she promised a woman named Dutch to watch every Swampgator game, she soon fell for him.

Their love story was so plain and simple and I still loved it. There’s just something about Rafe and Alice’s chemistry that is so addictive. I loved their push and pull relationship, the way they handled the obstacles around them, and how they became better persons even if their family was not perfect.

Anything But Minor is a light-hearted, sexy New Adult sports romance that didn’t fail to capture my heart from start to finish. Rafe was not a perfect male lead. At times he was being an asshole, but he was a redeemable character. Alice, on the other hand, was such a quirky character and she’s the kind of person that I would really love to be friends with. NA fans, you don’t want to miss this book!

Review: Separation Games by C.D. Reiss

Separation Games (The Games Duet, #2)

Separation Games
(The Games Duet #2)
Author: C.D. Reiss
Publisher: Flip City Media Inc.
Published: January 3, 2017
Genre: Romance, Adult, Erotica, BDSM, Contemporary

Synopsis new

The stunning conclusion to the New York Times Bestseller.

These are the unbreakable rules in the game.
Stay collected. Compartmentalize. Think your next move through. Never let your heart dictate your tactics.

The heart is impulsive.
The heart makes bad decisions.
The heart doesn’t see the long game.

Because the heart may have decided to get Adam back, but when the endgame comes, the heart’s going to be the first thing to break.

my thoughts new

“He’d asked me to love him when what awakened my love was the very thing that killed his love.”

I was honestly not 100% impressed with this finale. It’s not that the book wasn’t good. I actually fell in love again with the writing of C.D. Reiss. I just thought it lacked some things while it overdid some unnecessary things at the same time. I extremely loved the first book of this duet Marriage Games so I really expected the final book to be that powerful and passionate like the first book.

Separation Games picks up where Marriage Games left off. After Adam discontinued his 30-day deal with Diana to save their marriage, Diana was devastated because it was then when she finally realized that she wanted to be a submissive for Adam. But Adam has some issues with his life as a Dom and he realized that he could never love Diana as a submissive. Now, Diana is determined to get Adam back and pursue the dark world of submission. She is going to do everything in her power to win him back.

First of all, Diana was such a total mess in this book. I didn’t like the way she approached things. Not to mention the fact that she was so inconsistent. One day she was all over Adam and she was really desperate to win him back and then the next day when Adam finally wanted her, she said “NO. NO. NO.” I mean girl, get your act together!

There were just too many scenes here that served as fillers. I wanted some depth in the story. Some intensity like the first book. Despite the flaws, however, the conclusion was great and I was glad how everything turned out good in the end. I was shocked by that little twist with Serena there. Lol.

Review: Marriage Games by C.D. Reiss

Synopsis new

That’s all Adam Steinbeck demands of his wife.
Thirty days in a remote cottage, doing everything he demands. After that, he’ll sign her divorce papers and give her complete ownership of their company.

That’s how long he has to rediscover the man he once was. The Dominant Master he hid when he fell in love with her five years ago.

She wants the business they built badly enough to go to the cottage for a month. Cut off ties to the world and do his bidding. She can submit to him with her body, but her heart will never yield.

She thinks this is his pathetic attempt to repair their marriage.

She’s wrong.

my thoughts new

This book stunned me in so many levels. It’s been quite a while since I enjoyed a dark love story with a BDSM content that does not suffer a “wannabe” syndrome like some books do. So you can just imagine how amazed I was after reading this book. It was so gripping it managed to stir me up all the way through.

Caution: This book is not for everybody, and certainly not for the faint-hearted.:-)

Told in 2 different POVs, Marriage Games started when the marriage of Diana Barnes Steinbeck and Adam Steinbeck was about to fall down. Diana left a letter to Adam saying that she needs a divorce because she no longer felt their connection as a married couple. Adam did not immediately let her, but instead, he asked for thirty days for them to be together and to show her the things that he hid all throughout their marriage– his life as a Dom.

“Bedroom games. That’s all it is. But they’re serious, and when played right, everyone wins.”

I didn’t set high expectations prior to reading this. Seeing my friends’ 5-star ratings made me felt skeptical because some top-rated books just do not work out for me. BUT THIS. WAS. SO. FREAKING. GOOD.

I loved C.D. Reiss‘s writing. It’s my first time to read a book written by her and she just blew my mind with her poetic and lyrical tone that felt so right for a dark book like this. I was amazed by the back-and-forth narration between the past and the present events. It was so engaging and it made me want to read more and more in order for me to find out what the heck is really happening with the two.

“You’re a submmissive, and the Dominant in me always knew it.”

This book basically explored deep and complex thoughts from a man who fell into the world of BDSM. It was then when I read Adam’s POV that I felt kind of enlightened. His thoughts simply show that not everyone who gets involved with this strange sexual act wants to do it to their loved partner. Some people hide it because they do not want to show their “dark” side which would taunt the relationship. They have this need to protect and to just be “normal”.

What I especially loved about this book was the balance between the romance and the intimate scenes. Just by reading it, you can feel the deep connection between the two characters. You can feel the emotions, the conflict, and the confusion through their POVs.

The characters were also admirable. This is a BDSM book but I was surprised to find a feisty, strong heroine. Diana is the kind of heroine that does not annoy me nor bother me because of her tendency to become vulnerable, but she was such an amazing character.

Everything about this book– the plotline, the characters, the writing, the romance, the hot kinky scenes — was good. I daresay it’s one of the best page-turners I’ve read so far. The ending was a cliffhanger, but it made me feel excited to find out how the story would end.

“I love you. Every version of me loves you.”

Blog Tour & Review: Commander in Chief by Katy Evans

Commander in Chief (White House, #2)

Commander in Chief
(White House #2)
Author: Katy Evans
Publisher: Katy Evans
Published: January 5, 2017
Genre: Romance, Adult, New Adult, Contemporary

Synopsis new

The sizzling second installment of the White House series, by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.

We fell in love during the campaign.
The stakes were high.
Reputations could have been ruined.
Scandal hovered over us like a cloud.
Now the man I love is the President of the United States of America.
And its not my vote he is after.
He wants it all.
My heart. My body. My soul.
He wants me by his side.
In the White House.
Normalcy will be gone from my life, privacy forgotten.
I am only twenty three. I just wanted to play a part in history. But it seems like history wasn’t done with me. The part where I lost my heart to Matthew Hamilton? It was only the beginning…

my thoughts new

“I want you. I want you indefinitely– and eventually, baby, you’re going to need to own up to the fact that the man you’re in love with is the president, and you helped put me here.”

(I buddyread this book with my lovely sis Bea. Click her name to read her awesome review!)

Katy Evans manages each time to suck me into the story she writes. I loved Mr. President and now after finishing this conclusion of Matthew and Charlotte’s story, I am so happy because of their satisfying ending.

In this book, the hot and super swoon-worthy Matthew “Matt” Hamilton is already the President-elect of the United States. Charlotte flew to Europe to stay away from him and try to move on after he won the presidency. But when she returned to witness his first day as a ruler in the States, she wasn’t able to deny the fact that her feelings toward him still remain. And when their paths crossed once again, she did not expect him to pull such a shocking proposal to her– to become his acting First Lady of the United States.

I loved most parts in this book– especially the scenes where Matt was trying to win Charlotte back and woo her. Despite his busy schedule, he was still able to make time for her, doing his best to make her feel that she’s the most beautiful, most worthy First Lady in his heart.

The thing that has awed me most was the loyalty they had for each other. I loved how strong they were together and how tough they were despite some political issues that surround them. Over the course of Matt’s presidency, I was afraid that he’s going to be destructed while being in love with Charlotte but omg, I was so wrong. He is the man! The best President ever.

Maybe I was looking for a little bit more angst and depth that’s why I rated it 4 out 5 but otherwise, I loved how the story turned out in the end. There was a resolution regarding the crime of Matt’s father. The final chapters also brought me a whirlwind of emotions as well as the ending which just made me grin from ear to ear. Matt and Charlotte’s love story, as a whole, was more than beautiful. They said their lives aren’t fairytale. Um, I don’t think so. There could never be any more perfect than their love for each other.

“I shed more than my clothes when I’m with her. I shed every preconceived notion of who I should be. My last name, the presidency, everything is gone– only I remain. A man, flesh and blood, not perfect, but trying his damn best to be, and a man who wants her. Bad.”

An ARC was provided by Katy Evans and Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review.
