So I saw this cool book tag called “R.I.P. it or SHIP it” on Twitter and I immediately wanted to do it myself. Luckily, I was tagged by a wonderful person named J.M. of Book Freak Revelations to do this as well. You can check out his “R.I.P. it or SHIP it” post here. 🙂
So how do we do this tag, anyways? Basically all you need to do is write the names of different characters on pieces of paper. Any character you want! 🙂 I listed 40 characters (20 males and 20 females), but you can decide how many characters you want. Do a random selection by pulling out two names in order to create a pair. What makes this tag a lot more fun is how you decide– whether to R.I.P. the pair or SHIP them. Isn’t it really fun? 🙂
Now take a look at my pairs and see if I rip or ship them together. 🙂
ROUND 1
Hermione Granger (from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling) and Vhalla Yarl (from Air Awakens series by Elise Kova)
I love this pair! I think these two will be instant besties because just take a look at their characters. They’re both GENIUS. And both are associated with magic! Hermione being a wise, talented, nerdy witch while Vhalla being a library apprentice and a witty sorcerer. I certainly
SHIP IT!
ROUND 2
Tessa Gray (from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare) and Dorian Havilliard (from Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas)
I wanna see them together, honestly. If Dorian can’t be with Celaena, then he should be with Tessa. Both of them are book lovers, so why not? They will put up a BIG LIBRARY inside The Glass Castle. Perfect! I
SHIP IT!
ROUND 3
Draco Malfoy (from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling) and Mara Dyer (from Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin)
I think Draco’s antagonistic character will not suit Mara’s stoic personality. I can’t see these two going along well. So, no. I don’t want them together. I
R.I.P. IT!
ROUND 4
Queen Amberly (from The Selection series by Kiera Cass) and Professor McGonagall (from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling)
Beauty and elegance versus intelligence and bravery? I think these two will make a great team together. They will learn from each other’s strengths and because of that, I
SHIP IT!
ROUND 5
Karou (from Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor) and Luc (from Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout)
I think Karou will need Luc in certain situations. Although Karou is a strong character, she needs a brilliant and dependable person to guide her– one with a strong and wise personality like Luc, in order to survive. Luc, on the other hand, will certainly fall for Karou’s genuine and headstrong personality. They’ll make a great pair. I
SHIP IT!
ROUND 6
Ignifex (from Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge) and Cinder (from The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer)
NO. Definitely no. Ignifex, although a very beautiful character, has this strong and tyrant personality– one that will certainly not sit well with Cinder who certainly doesn’t want to be dictated. So I
R.I.P. IT!
ROUND 7
Celaena Sardothien (from Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas) and Aldrik Solaris (from Air Awakens series by Elise Kova)
I think Celaena and Prince Aldrik are promising. I can see them flirting while exchanging secret notes. And well, Celaena is one flirty character which will definitely attract Aldrik who is a sort of a playboy. Lol! I
SHIP IT!
ROUND 8
The Darkling (from The Grisha series by Leigh Bardugo) and Katsa (from Graceling series by Kristin Cashore)
Well well well… I can perfectly picture these two together going along well. They both have the power, strength, and a thirst to prove something. And they’re both brave and bad-ass. So, why not? I
SHIP IT!
ROUND 9
Mare Barrow (from Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard) and Puck (from The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa)
I don’t know. Mare is too strong for Puck because well, Puck is one goofy guy while Mare lacks a sense of cheerfulness. I sense awkward situations if these two will be together. Maybe Puck can entertain her with his humor but I don’t think Mare can accommodate that. She’s that boring. So, no. I
R.I.P. IT!
ROUND 10
Jem Carstairs (from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare) and Daemon Black (from Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout)
Both are swoony. James is calm and serious while the Daemon is funny af. I think these two will become great friends if given a chance to be together. So I
SHIP IT!
ROUND 11
Sam Cortland (from Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas) and Sofia Claremont from (A Shade of Vampire series by Bella Forrest)
Sam is one of the bravest guys out there so he can very well protect Sofia (a damsel in distress-y kind of character) so yeah, they’ll certainly make a good pair. I
SHIP IT!
ROUND 12
Alec Lightwood (from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare) and Maxon Schreave (from The Selection series by Kiera Cass)
I don’t think I can ship these two together. I find their personalities contrasting with each other. Alec is brave and he acts a real man while Maxon in my opinion, is a weak character and very dependent on his soldiers. I bet Alec will be the one who will do the saving if dangerous situations arrive. So I
R.I.P. IT!
ROUND 13
Albus Dumbledore (from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling) and America Singer (from The Selection series by Kiera Cass)
Everyone loves Dumbledore. He has a great, fatherly personality so I think he and America will have a nice relationship when paired together. So I
SHIP IT!
ROUND 14
Sydney Sage (from Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead) and Jace Wayland (from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare)
I don’t think Jace’s sarcastic personality will suit Sydney’s quiet and intellectual one. There will be CHAOS when they’re together. And lots of snarks. Definitely NO. I
R.I.P. IT!
ROUND 15
Alina Starkov (from The Grisha series by Leigh Bardugo) and Noah Shaw (from Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin)
These two might actually work out together given the fact that they’re both intellectual characters. And well, knowing that Noah is fluent in certain languages, I think he will gladly learn how to interact well with Alina using a Russian language. What do you think? I guess I’ll
SHIP IT!
ROUND 16
Adrian Ivashkov (from Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead) and Akiva (from Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor)
Both of these characters might as well have a great relationship. Adrian has that coyness in him that may work out when he’s with a quiet and all broody Akiva. And well, when both charming characters collide, I can’t see anything bad with it. So I
SHIP IT!
ROUND 17
Clary Fray and Isabelle Lightwood (from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare)
These chicks have opposite personalities but they certainly make a good team together. Definitely
SHIP IT!
ROUND 18
Rose Hathaway (from Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead) and Nyx Triskelion (from Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge)
No way these two are going to like each other! Rose is too bad-ass for Nyx. And honestly, they won’t make a good pair because I’m pretty sure Rose will just be annoyed with Nyx. So I
R.I.P. IT!
ROUND 19
Nikolai Lantsov (from The Grisha series by Leigh Bardugo) and Will Herondale (from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare)
Nikolai and Will have a lot in common. They’re both cocky and oozing with extraordinary appeal. I know they’re going to be best of friends when they’re together, so yes, please! I
SHIP IT!
ROUND 20
Harry Potter (from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling) and Katy Swartz (from Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout)
Hmmm… both are nerdy type and seriously brave-hearted. If Katy will join Hogwarts, I’m also pretty sure she’s gonna be a Griffyndor. So, yes, I
SHIP IT!
